MARISSA B. COOPER

Marissa Cooper lives in Alexander County along with her daughter Paige and her fiancée Marshall Winstead. She is Co-Owner of Cooper Southern Properties and has served there as President and Broker-In-Charge for the last nine years. Marissa has been recognized by Catawba’s Business To Business as one of the Top 20 entrepreneurs under 40 years old. Under her guidance Cooper Southern Properties was chosen as Alexander County’s 2007 Small Business of The Year.

Marissa grew up in the North Carolina Mountains as a child which she still loves today. She and her family later relocated to Rock Hill S.C. where she graduated High School. After high school she served four years in the US Army and there earned her Associates degree from Maryland University. While in the Military she developed a love for running which still continues. She is now an accomplished athlete who participates regularly in many running and cycling events and truly enjoys coaching youth running groups. She is a member of the Apple City Road Crew running group and coaches the Alexander County Road Runners Youth running group. She also enjoys participating in community activities and has been active in numerous civic and charitable organizations. Those include the Alexander County Chamber Board, The United Way Board, and the Rotary Foundation.

Marissa has invested and committed to helping make Alexander County and the surrounding areas a great place to live and looks forward to helping others discover our little piece of heaven!

MARSHALL WINSTEAD

Marshall Winstead is co-owner of Cooper Southern Properties, Inc and has lived in Alexander County for the last seven years. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC and then earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from UNCC.

Marshall owned and operated a window and door/renovation company for several years until 1997. He is a licensed building contractor and always enjoyed the construction industry and working with homes.

In 1997 Marshall went to work in the new home industry as a Realtor/Broker for the largest privately owned home building company in N.C. He gained valuable experience there and found that this combination of building and home sells was the type of work he loved best.

In 2001 Marshall’s brother, a well known architect in Newton NC, encouraged him to move to the area, join him in some joint construction ventures, and consider opening a real estate company. Marshall did just that but soon met his fiancée, Marissa Cooper, who was also starting a company and they decided to join efforts and work together.

Over the last nine years they have created a successful real estate firm that in 2007 was named Alexander County’s Small Business of the Year. Marshall is very active in our community serving where he can to make a difference. Marshall is involved in several outdoor sports and enjoys participating in running races and triathlons.

WENDY WELBORNE-KIMERY

Wendy Welborne-Kimery is a Realtor/Broker and has been specializing in the Lake Norman and Statesville real estate market for the past seven years. She has been a top contributor in these areas. She also has extensive knowledge of the Catawba and Alexander counties where she has previously lived and still maintains community and family ties. Wendy is very experienced in re-sale, new construction and distressed properties.

Wendy enjoys spending time with her family and the activities they participate in like running, biking, picnics and hiking. Wendy and her husband Jay along with her two daughters Lauren and Kristen love animals and are thrilled to have recently adopted a new family member, a mini-dachshund found thru a rescue group and petfinder.com. Wendy is also very active in her community and loves volunteering at her children’s school.

JENNIFER MARTIN

Jennifer Martin was born and raised in Alexander County. She attended Alexander Central and upon graduation, studied to become a paralegal thru CCC-TI. Her experience as a paralegal and her knowledge of the foreclosure market served her well after becoming a Real Estate Broker in 2001. She moved on to become Broker-In-Charge and owner of All Star Realty for a period of four years.

Jennifer is very active in our community and has served in numerous civic and charitable organizations including the Alexander County Planning and Zoning Commission, the United Way Board, and our local Rotary Foundation.

Jennifer, who still resides here in Alexander County, has two children, Brett and Briquelle. She is very active in several outdoor sports, she loves hiking, running, and biking and is a member of the Apple City Road Crew running club which participates in numerous races, du-athlons and tri-athlons.

SAM DAVIS

Sam Davis is a life long resident of Alexander County. His wife of thirty six years, Alva H. Davis, also from Alexander County, is a retired home economics teacher from our local high school.

Sam received his Bachelor of Science degree from NC State University and upon graduation, proudly served for six years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Sam returned home and became interested in real estate while working in the lumber business. Buying and selling tracts of land went hand in hand with his work. Sam owned and operated a dry kiln business known as Brushy Mountain Enterprises here in our area for 23 years. Brushy Mtn. Enterprises served the furniture industry and as that declined, Sam returned to his love for Real Estate.

Sam knows Alexander and the surrounding counties like the back of his hand and this knowledge serves him well in helping clients find just the right spot for home or business.

For fun, Sam enjoys restoring old cars, rebuilding motors and gun collecting. He also has a passion for college football and of course his “Wolfpack”.
